What’s new in Rhinojewel Service Release 10

    December 11th, 2009

Rhinojewel Boolean Operations are getting smarter every day! The new strategy we implemented allows you to introduce very slight variations in position of the objects that fail to unite or subtract. This change in position, however small, can help Rhinojewel to successfully perform the boolean operation with all the objects. The option “Move objects and retry” is activated by default in the Options tab and you can vary the number of retries and the distance.

    01

In this new Service Release Manager option of Insert Pavé Blocks tool offers more variety of drill objects to be added to blocks. There is also a new option “Import drill to scene” which allows you to quickly import one of these Rhinojewel drills, change or adapt it according to your preferences and then use it as a custom drill. When working with Custom Drill option/tab now you have the option to select and use custom drill from the scene and we also added 2 new buttons that allow easy opening and browsing of User drill files folder.

    02

Brilliant Cut to Block/Drill tool has some nice new button images and the option for deselecting gems has been added. The most important new feature of this release is the possibility to change brilliant cuts in your project to gem/blocks with render material already applied! What you need is to insert a separate brilliant cut stone in your project, apply the desired render material to it and than tell Rhinojewel that you want to switch selected stones from your model to this stone with material. Rhinojewel itself will perform the conversion to block instance prior to performing the switch and that way you will have the advantage of working with notably reduced file size and still be able to obtain photorealistic renders.

    New Rhinojewel Channel on YouTube

    October 2nd, 2009

We have opened a new Rhinojewel Channel on YouTube. There you will find Video Samples of the latest jewelry-specific tools that have been added to Rhinojewel. Every time a new Service Release is announced we are going to add to our YouTube channel videos that show how the new tools work.

Every video comes with a short description and can be viewed in High Definition and on full screen by selecting the appropriate options. For a better understanding, most videos in this channel show the use of one specific Rhinojewel tool used in conjunction with other commands or within a simplified step of the jewelry creation process.

You are all, of course, welcome to subscribe to our channel!

For those who are new to our software, you can find more than 60 videos of the classic Rhinojewel tools on our web site.

The new Rhinojewel web site is now available in three languages: English, Spanish and Italian.
We would like to take this occasion to remind our clients that the Rhinojewel interface and help manual are also available in these three languages, with French coming soon.
